If you've read anything I've written about Hi Vis Clothing, you'll know that I don't think that Hi Vis clothing is a substitute for good defensive riding skills and awareness of how accidents happen.
However, in certain conditions such as fog and rain, Hi Vis clothing may be still be useful.
The problem is that the Hi Vis waistcoats used by many riders were never designed with motorcycling in mind. In particular, the retro-reflective stripes are often obscured by from ahead by fairings,
from behind by passengers or luggage and rucksacks, and virtually the entire vest is invisible from the side.
Sleeved Waistcoat
The slightly oddly named "Sleeved
Waistcoat" has a huge advantage over conventional Hi Vis waistcoats - as it has shoulders and sleeves, it renders the rider much more visible from all directions, including the sides
than a conventional sleeve-less waistcoat.
This polyester garment in Saturn Yellow meets safety standard EN471, and the 100% solid knitted fabric has a Velcro fastening and black binding all round the garment.

Hi Vis Polo Shirt
This one is aimed squarely at
other bike instructors.
The DSA require that whilst running a CBT course the instructor wears Hi Vis clothing. The same will presumably apply to any off-road training carried out by an advanced instructor on the RPMT.
In mid-summer, standing in the hot sun for hours on end wearing a Hi Vis vest over your normal clothing doesn't help for cool heads.
I've found these 100% polyester polo shirts in Saturn Yellow with reflective material which meet the EN471 standard.

"The Survival Skills CDROM is a work of genius. I'll definitely be recommending your CD to a few people who I know will benefit
from it." Kevin Wells
I've got [book by well known US writer] and both of the Survival Skills CD-ROMS. Of the two, I found Kevin's ebooks to be by far
the most useful - they're excellent. CBFer on Visordown.com

"Just what I was looking for, a special present to the wife to congratulate her on passing her test." Tony
"Perfect! Figured out what OSM/PSL means already! I had been wondering! I see many moments passing.... my wife may not be so grateful!"

One question that gets asked from time to time is:
"why the Survival Skills series of CDROMs aren't published in book form?"
There are two simple answers:
- by not going though a conventional publisher, I cover all the production costs which keeps the cover price to you the customer, down
- I retain complete control over the contents and can thus update the content at short notice
